Gravel Road Foundation aims to find people
(particularly young girls & indigenous Australians)
with drive and potential
but who have something holding them back
and giving them a chance to shine.
Kids Under Cover: An organization that identifies children who are trying to succeed but have a difficult or disruptive home life (through violence, proximity to drugs or crime) which is stopping them from finishing school. They provide a studio in the back yard of the family home to give them the space to finish school and set them on the path to a positive life.
Rumbalara Football & Netball Club: Australia has a sickening record when it comes to how we have treated our aboriginal people. In fact, we have displaced them from their lands, stripped them of their dignity and discriminated against them for centuries. The aboriginal people in Australia did not even have the right to vote until 1962 ! The RFNC is far more than an Aboriginal led sporting club. It is dedicated to strengthening the whole community, bringing families together and promoting reconciliation. It is a place of belonging, a place that people of all ages and backgrounds can call their own.
The Man Cave: There is no doubt that toxic masculinity is a problem that needs to be tackled – particularly for the health and empowerment of women. The Man Cave works with schools, teachers, parents and community groups to deliver workshops, camps and keynote presentations that explore healthy masculinity, positive mental health, respectful relationships and gender equality. They try and break the misunderstanding of what it means to be a strong man.
Backtrack: The majority of the kids Backtrack works with are aged between 12 and 19 years of age. They have multiple and complex life challenges and before BackTrack steps in, are falling through the cracks of society. These young people find themselves hanging around in parks, stealing for food, sleeping on the streets, and running into trouble with the cops. They are on a path to getting caught up in the juvenile justice system trap. 78% of the kids who have been in jail will go back to jail. BackTrack is often their last resort for claiming and living a decent, happy life.
